I just started using a ProEdge this week that I purchased at the beginning of the year. I have viewed several YouTube videos while researching and they all sounded very quiet. However, mind has a pulsing noise and rattling. I have entered a web support request on Sunday and emailed directly on Monday but still have not received a response. I did notice an older post on this forum with a similar issue but no resolution. Has anyone else encountered this with their ProEdge, and if so what was the resolution? Here are a couple of links so you can hear what mine sounds like both with a belt mounted and tensioned and without. With BeltWithout Belt

Clive, yes thank you. I will check a couple of things tonight as suggested.

It looks like the issue was a loose grub screw in the lower pulley. As you will see in the picture below, the flat part of the shaft was also not completely aligned with the holes for the grub screws. I removed the pulley and realigned it and retightened the grub screws and the strange sounds are now gone! I will test sharpening again tonight and see how it goes, but I think the issue is resolved.
Thanks to Adam Charlesworth at Robert Sorby for the quick and accurate diagnosis! I am feeling much better about my investment in the ProEdge system again now!

Clive caught me sleeping on the job again, glad it is resolved. Just to add when I and many others I know do YouTube I use a noise cancelling mic. which does make the ProEdge almost silent.
