Hi all a while back I spoke about using a "wedge" so I could sharpen scrapers and the alike. One of you reveresed the direction of the belt which is another way (but only open to the electrically literate) but these "wedges" are perfect for the job - this is an 80 o which works super well printed by my daughters boyfriend on his 3d printer happy to supply to those who wants in return for some college beer money (€15 seems reasonable + P&P) He can print anything - he is currently making a circular one for me now so I can do my bowl gouge - I'll post pictures when it turns up

That is all very good, but I sharpen my scrapers including 90° cabinet scrapers just on the table and get perfect cuts, so I think you are solving a non existent problem.

Interesting there seems a million views on what angle to grind to - include the world famous Glen Lucas (who lives just up the road here) www.glennlucaswoodturning.com/product/moby-jig/anyway - I am happy Pete - on the cabinate scrapers - do you grind them or just burnish them

Hi Francis
Most of my scrapers are now negative rake, I have been converted! so I sharpen those at 60° with a 20° neg rake. Cabinet scrapers get some abuse in my shop so a quick single run over the belt at 90° is all they get between burnishing. The only modification I have made to my ProEdge is I have drilled an extra stop hole at 40° on the inner circle (20 + 30° are already there) as I like to use the 40/40 grind bowl gouge.
My other bowl gouges are all 55° which is 45° on the proset then use the 3rd hole on the long grind tool which adds 10°, spindle gouges are fingernail profile at 45° Roughing Gouge at 45° straight from the table I don't use the V Block.
You are presumably setting the table to 90° then using the wedge to sharpen upside down to raise the bur, that makes no sense you get a burr on top when sharpening on a wheel which turns towards you so why not on a ProEdge where the action is the same?
