Hi All,
I had my PE delivered on Tuesday and as I'm working through the week I unboxed it today for the first time.
I carefully fitted some self adhesive anti vibration material to the base as I don't have a permanent location for it so it's being used on our worktop, I made a little wooden tray with some rare earth magnets on it to catch all the debris as suggested elsewhere, I even registered the warranty and read the instruction book although I've seen lots of videos online on setup and usage.
I got one of my bench chisels which could do with a much better grind / finish on it, pressed the power switch, it ran for about 1/8th of a second and stopped. It didn't even make one revolution of the belt.
I've checked the fuse, it's good, there's power reaching the end of the lead but it won't go.
Being a heating engineer who is used to fixing gas and oil boilers I removed the belt, turned it on and gave the bottom pulley a nudge with a screwdriver, still nothing. Everything moves freely that should and with it being Saturday I have no way of contacting anybody anywhere apart from here until Monday.
I'm not holding out any hopes for a fix that I can do without invalidating the warranty but you never know, fingers crossed.
I had hoped for better after spending over £450 but at this time I'm really disappointed.
I don't know whether I should be contacting the vendor or Robert Sorby?
Thanks for reading.
Edd

Hi Edd
First port of call is normally the vendor, you don't say what country you are in but I am guessing from the £ sign it is the UK it matters because some non UK importers need to change the capacitor for local specifications.
My first step in fact would be to just check that the wiring is all well connected on everything you can get at without invalidating the warrantee.
If that doesn't fix it and the vendor is not helpful then reach out to Clive Brooks on sales@robert-sorby.co.uk
