I have the RS200 and RS230 hollowing tools and whilst being great have decided to also look for something bigger. I came across the RS300 which is a longer "multi tip hollowing tool" which appears to be available, and also the RS340 which is the curved/swan neck version. Unfortunately this latter tool does not appear to be available any more, depsite recalling I had seen it online before Xmas 2020. It also appears as if it is no longer present on the Robert Sorby website. Can anyone provide any further information on this? Or a supplier in the UK that still has stock?
I also have a medium ultima system, which I suspect has caused the RS340 to be discontinued, but I really like the versatility of the multi-tip tools.
On an unrelated note, I also noticed that the Sorby 763 indexing system appears to have been unavailable from most suppliers recently, and some no longer appear to offer it despite it still being on the Robert Sorby website.
Thanks in advance for any information/assistance.
Dan

Good morning Dan and Pete...Your assumption regarding the Ultima and the larger multi tipped tools is perfectly correct Dan...The interest in large hollowing tools with scraper cutters has considerably diminished over the years to where it was no longer commercially viable for them to continue...I am sure there are some of our more established stockists that still have one or two on their display so please ask around our stockists... The indexing system was also discontinued, due to the diminished interest in the requirement for indexing and also several more lathe manufacturers were including a basic indexing system into their machines, so there was much less need for a simple addon style indexing system Although we have discontinued these and a few other older products, please keep an eye on our website and social media, as we are working on many exciting new products

That's a shame I too have been searching for the Sov-Rs340 Hollowmaster XL, I would have thought interest would have increased in larger hollowing tools and not diminished. Considering many folks searching for these tools and wind up having to bend bar stock to make their own. I guess I will also be considering taking this measure. Please let us know if you've found a stock of these XL Masters or If someone knows of something else coming out like that? Thanks Keep on Turning Blake

Technical question regarding the RS300 and RS340... Do these ha ve a semicircular shank like the RS200 and RS230 to aid stability when hollowing or are they round shank tools like most of the other commercial offerings and homemade tools?

They have a flat base Are you 100% sure Pete? Pictures of the RS300 look like there may be a small flat on the bar, but nothing comparable to the RS200 and may even just be a reflection/artefact of the picture. Not many pictures of the RS340 but can't see any indication of a flat on the shank, vs those of the RS230 where it is very clearly there. Attachments:
