have a couple of scrapers - typically 60 to 75 degrees - similar to the scrapers here - link
if the belt is going downwards when you sharpen - will the remove any burr - does it make sense to flip the tool over and have the belt running up the cutting face so as to get he burr ??
The burr is formed facing out from the steel on both edges, if it's done on a wheel then the top edge burr is week and needs honing off and recreating, when done on the Proedge the top edge ends up with a micro burr that probably cuts correctly but I tend to use a burnishing pin after honing anyway. .
Ask any ten woodturners for an opinion on how x is achieved, you can expect at least eleven different answers.
Every woodturner will probably give a different answer, until I bought the ProEdge, I used a Tormek and I got used to using the Burnishing pin method. but it's not $$$ well mine isn't I cut up the hardened shaft of an old screwdriver, drilled 2 offset holes into a piece of MDF and glued the drill bits into them, one pin is the axis the other the burnishing pin as they are both the same metal I can use either for burnishing a straight edge.
