Hi lads just got the proedge and i am having trouble sharpening my bevel edge Chisel's. I'm using the woodworker's square guide and its like its to long and hitting the handle. Also because of the angle on the shaft of the chisel it changes the angle it hits the the belt. Has anybody had this problem are could someone advise me of how to use it correctly Thanks

I used 2 bits of brass bar stock to make an angle adjustable cross that fits the mitre slot. (Tapped hole and screw.) Adjusting the angle will allow you to present the edge square to the belt. A sholdered riser block will provide clearance for the handle. I need this for my small carving gouges, although I can't get to 15 degrees. I'll make a longer backing table or a lower work table to beat this problem. Cya

Hi Matt As Gus has said you need to get some clearance for the handle. There is short platform option for shorter blades:- ProEdge Short Tool Platform with Arm I am looking at making up a stepped straight edge platform that will lift the tool 10mm off the standard table with the back edge just behind the slot, allowing a bit extra clearance while keeping the guide slot. I am also new to the Pro Edge, getting the hang of it now but it took me a while to quickly get an edge I was happy with.

With 10mm lift I doubt you will be able to grind at 15 deg. If you need 15 deg make a longer backing table that suppprts the belt higher. I am also contemplating milling up a work table arm that that holds the normal or short work table further from the pivot and 10deg lower. Still need to check the math & clearance/geometry.

I was wondering what the effect on presentation angle would be, but am the prototype and try it type!
