I'm considering screwing my Pro-edge to the top of a shelf unit in my shed-workshop so it will always be ready for use rather than having to move it to my bench and clamp it down.
I've measured the diameter of the holes in the four corners of the base-plate and they appear to be slightly less than 8mm.
This suggests to me that they will be too small for a M8 coach screw (I can't use bolts because the shelf unit is built from Speedframe with a piece of recycled kitchen counter on the top). I can't try it since I don't have any M8 coach screws in stock.
I don't want to buy the coach screws if they won't fit in the hole.
Has anybody done anything similar and can relate their experiences.
I wonder if the manufacturer is pandering to the market in the United States and has made the holes 5/16th inch?
I have no idea where to buy 5/16 coach screws!
Very many thanks
MC

These guys will sell you 1 bolt or 5000. They stock everything including imperial, Whitworth etc and do mail order. Its the most useful shop for fixings I've ever come across...a proper old style brown overall (2 Ronnies style) DIY place.

Orbital Fasteners at Watford will also sell single items.
It's a long way to go but NOT as far as Surrey!
Your firm don't list 5/16 Coach Screws on their website. I've written to ask them to send a catalogue
Maybe I should just ream out the baseplate holes to take M8 coach screws
With best wishes and thanks. MC

Just telephone them MC, they're a friendly bunch and if they don't have it. you'll soon know and can pursue other avenues :-) I'd be surprised if they don't though....never let me down once in 20 years. Four candles!!!!

I discussed the problem with Mssrs Brooks and Richmond from Robert Sorby and was advised that the holes were 8mm
So I reamed them a little with a 21/64 hand reamer (since I didn't have an 8mm hand reamer) and M8 bolts now fit nicely
Problem solved
Thank to all
