Just got my ProEdge used from a friend. Tried it on a cheap-steel skew with 60-grit belt and after about 3 minutes of reshaping, the belt unglued and split.
I’ve now split 4 belts. Am I pushing too hard or something? I am reshaping my skews from something well more than 15 degrees.
Can re-glue the belts that split? Is CA too brittle for this?

To ask the obvious do you have the belts going in the right direction? With any belt sander you want to just lightly touch the tool to the belt. Pressing hard will make a ton of heat and wear the belt out. At 60 grit even a light touch should be tearing through the steel. You may want to try marking the tool with a sharpie so you can see the cutting occurring.

You are definitely doing something differently, I have never split one belt let alone 4! As Matt said are you running the belts the right way round? if you are then just how much force are you using? really should not be much, I would expect to reprofile from 20° to 15° in 5 minutes or less on a 60 grit.

Are you taking steel off at the point ie cutting edge, Or the heal edge furthest away from the point.
