I have just purchased the Pro Edge and having read the Manual, which I have to say is so basic it is useless, and have a couple of questions that perhaps you can answer for me.
1] On the Tool Platform Arm there are two Threaded Holes into which the Angle Selection Pin screws, from the factory and looking at the pictures in the Manual the Pin is screwed into the outer Hole, when is it required to be screwed into the inner Hole?
2] I have the ProSet but cannot find any information on what settings to use? I am assuming that the numbers are reffering to mm? and I see from previous discussions on this that it is suggested to follow the Tormek recomendations for use, but if I read it correctly Tormek suggest using a setting of either 65 or 75mm for Bowl Gouges and 55 or 65mm for Spindle Gouges.
The ProSet has settings of 35mm to 50mm? only so the Tormek Settings do not appear to be relevent?

Use the inner hole when setting at either 20 degrees or 30 degrees; I think this is shown in the unclear graphic midway down page 6 of the leaflet.
1. The inner hole is for 20 and 30 degrees using the same location pin. (thank you for your answer mcb)
2. The numbers on the ProSet are actual bevel angles in degrees. To replicate the factory standard bevel angle of 45 degrees place your bowl or spindle gouge into the tool clamp of the fingernail profile arm. With the ProSet on your bench with the front lip holding it in place. Now place the face of the clamp against the edge of the ProSet and push the gouge until it is against the finger at the 45 position. Tighten the black knob to secure the gouge at that protrusion. Now your gouge is ready to be sharpened with a fingernail profile at 45 degrees. Alter the above for the other 3 available angles on the ProSet.

Yes Jeff is still a very active member of the Robert Sorby team...........the team has been extremely busy the last few months with many shows leading up to Christmas but I'm sure Jeff will be back on stream shortly.

Sorry for my absence from the forum. I've had a very busy demonstration schedule, and when the forum went quiet, I fell out of the habit of checking it.
So Clive.....dare I ask.......what about this blurb we're all banging on about....any chance??? (Your own fault for advertising your role in your avatar) :-)
