Hi All,
recently purchased the above from Turners Retreat to make a deep sided, flat bottom fruit bowl. (Intention is to have wall and bottom at as close to 90º as possible.
I've practised it with a bowl gouge and diamond parting tool with reasonable results. I now want attack a large lump of Iroko I've purchased for the project which is a gift to my daughter.
So I have had one go at using the tool and managed to get a decent side wall. I was a bit twitchy when it came to the bottom of the bowl as I wasn't sure if the bottom edge of the tool can be used for cutting.
I was unsure on how the tool should be presented either. Couldn't find anything on YT. I went with the tool rest at centre and presented the tool in a similar fashion to a round nose scraper.
I appreciate any advice thats available. I'm also making an assumption that the tool should be sharpened with a diamond card, but this again is guessology.

Hi Chris
it is a scraper so slightly over centre on the toolrest slight below centre presentation. The 85° angle is so you can cut down the sidewall then tip 15° away from side and present to the bottom without moving the tool off the wood as the point holds the contact through the move.
