I don't understand some terms in this thread and would appreciate an explanation: what is the 120 angle, what is the collar and back collar, what is the knuckle? Thanks for any help. I'm trying to duplicate the Ellsworth grind which I created on a bench grinder and with Woolverine jig on a 5/8 inch (OD) gouge.

Good morning Charles The 120 degrees is the position the fingernail arm is set in the RoBert Sorby Factory. ...this the the angle the arm is bent at the knuckle or elbow. The collar is the small ring that is part way along the shaft where the fingernail sits when pit into the standard fingernail or long grind jigs. As Jeff previously recommended please ensure you record the standard position of the and the collar before you start any adjustments so that you can return it if ever required.
