Attached are two pictures showing a Short Tool Platform and a V-Block Gouge Jig that I designed and which were made by my son. They overcome the problem of mounting a V-Block on the short Platform. Note the slot that was machined in the Platform and the V-Block with a shoulder on it. The V-Block is the same size as the Platform. My Platform is actually the same width as the Sorby short Platform plus the with of the slot cut in the Sorby Large Platform If I would do it again I would either put the slot on the other side, or better yet put slots on both sides for increased stability The V-Block would then have two shoulders and be more stable. I realize that these mods are not as stable as the Large Platform Jig , but they are better than nothing. Any way they are there for any one with access to a machine shop. Mine are aluminum and it is a nuisance to change the arm. I have since bought the steel Sorby to be modified sometime in the future. The Platform modification could be easily accomplished by Sorby with a few program lines. The V-Block Jig would require a larger program mod and possibly a extra machine setup.

That is a great platform, can't you get your son to make the bracket as well

I am sure he could, but he would also have to redo the platform in Steel. An Aluminum and Steel mix causes problems. The initial mod was more of a feasability study. I have since bought the Sorby Short platform with the arm, it was easier to to just buy it.
