I just got the RS Slim fluted parting tool...going to love the small profile. BUT...how do you sharpen this thing. Do you just grind the small bevel (it's about 30 deg now) and not worry about the Fluted side? If you don't touch the fluted side with the grinder (or whatever your preferred sharpening tool is) what happens in time as the fluted portion of the tool disappears from repeated sharpening?
Thanks for the assist.

Hi Mustang....Any delicate tool such as the fluted parting tool should be sharpened with a honing stone or diamond file.As you quite rightly say that the flute will wear out if you use a bench grinder or any motorised coarse abrasive sharpening system Just lightly rub the honing stone or diamond file on the small bevelled face yo bring up a new crisp cutting edge

To be fair the cutting edges either side of the flute are so fine, plus it's use active is limited compared to a gouge as it's only parting off at the end of the day.
I haven't sharpend mine in over 2 years and and it works perfectly.

I mistakenly ground off the flute on my thin Sorby parting tool. Can it be restored? Thanks, I had a senior moment
