I was having lunch with a fellow woodturner today, and he has just spent some money on a new extraction piped system, he complained about the price of the adapters to make the pipes fit the various machines. Which I agreed was strangely high for a piece of plastic, presumably justified by the limited market.
After listening to his tale of woe, I questioned why a man who owned a lathe and had bits of tree scattered around his workshop and garden would be concerned... it's a few moments work with forstner bit and a roughing gouge to make a hose adapter for any and every machine outlet.
This thought had not occurred to him, so though it is blindingly obvious I thought I would post it here in case there are others who haven't thought to use the lathe to make the adapter to suck the dust out of the bandsaw!
Now I just need an absolutely silent vacuum generator... mine is in an outbuilding, with sound proofing, but I still have concerns about the noise as we have neighbors... anyone cracked this yet?
