Well I will kick off with the first post on this forum. I don't know what the wood is but the vase stands about 10" high and 3" diam at its widest. The wall thickness is about 3/16". Hollowed out using a Lyle Jamieson rig. Vic Attachments:

I'm glad that I am not the only one who has pieces of wood and doesn't know what variety they are. Since I started turning about fifteen years ago friends and neighbours have regularly given me pruning from their gardens and odd pieces they have come across. Some of them turn out to be real gems, others another piece of firewood!
