Hi all,
I've recently bought the Turnmaster Soverieign box set, and am loving it.
I'm wondering whether other RS cutters will fit in the turnmaster head, cutters like the the captive ring and bead cutters.

Not at this time, Pete. The seven profiles you received in the set are the current offering.

I am new to turning and just got a Turnmaster. I suppose the cutter should be oriented with the cutting (longer) side on the top of the tool. I cannot imagine it working on the bottom, but I thought I would ask.

You have it exactly right, TJ. Larger side to the top.

Jeff I have the Sorby tip holder #472. Since the screw doesn't fit through the Turnmaster cutters, I assume this holder is for other cutters. Other than buying the new tip holder, is there another solution. Also, are there any online instructions or videos for sharpening the Turnmaster cutters?

You probably know that the tip holder for the TurnMaster is RSTM-TH. At least one of Sorby's videos shows rubbing the cutter on the 600-grit diamond honing plate.

I have an older version of your #826H Internal Shear Scraper handle which uses a #10-32 pitch screw to hold the cutter. I just bought a #RSTM-CT1 carbide cutter for it and found that the cutter hole is too small for the screw. Is there a carbide cutter with a hole that fits the larger screw, or must I buy a new handle?

Hi Tom...The RSTM-CT1 is designed for the TurnMaster, which uses a different screw to lock it into position. The TurnMaster is the only Robert Sorby tool that has carbide cutters available. The replacement cutters for the 826H are 826C (round) and 827C (curved sided square), both of which are manufactured from HSS. They have a very crisp edge giving a beautiful surface finish and are very easy to sharpen using a diamond file or honing stone across the top fat face.
