I have a Sorby 445 fingernail jig and in the instructions, it says to set the protrusion of the tool to 2 inches and that will give a grinding angle of 45º. I know that varying the length of the protrusion will change the angle, in fact, there is a gauge with stepped stops to give a selection of different angles but not the lengths required to achieve this.
Other than trial and error, is there a way of calculating the length of the protrusion to give a particular angle of grind using this jig?
Ralph.
